Principal's Pen
Welcome to Royal Oaks School! We look forward to a wonderful year of
providing an outstanding educational experience for your child.

We take pride in the academic program we provide our students as well as the enrichment activities that are also available to your child. We want every student to feel connected to Royal Oaks Elementary School.
Student achievement is always our main focus. To that end, we have adopted high academic content standards that we expect every student to meet or exceed. We want our students well prepared for middle school when they leave Royal Oaks. We have the State (STAR) assessment, District trimester benchmark assessments in English/ Language Arts and Mathematics, and scoring guides in all curricular areas to measure how well students are performing and how well we are teaching the state standards. Our teachers collaborate, plan units of study and daily lessons based on the content standards. Every family will be given a copy of the standards for their child’s grade level to see what is expected at Back to School Night.
We also want our students to become independent learners who know how to access information. In the complex world we live in, where information doubles every few years, it is important that students know how to locate, retrieve and use information for a variety of purposes.
We believe that while school should be a very pleasant experience, students should work hard. To be successful, students must be able to read fluently and read for meaning. To accomplish this, students will read a minimum of an hour a day in school. To read well, students must practice. We ask that you have your child read at home every night. By fifth and sixth grade, they should read at least an hour at home every day. This may mean watching less television and playing fewer video games. Research tells us that the more children read, the higher they perform in school. The habits that students develop now will last them a lifetime. Let’s work together for the success of your child!
In addition, we have a very active Student Council and Parent Teacher Association (P.T.A). We welcome your assistance and participation with the activities during the school year.
Royal Oaks Elementary School is a place where all children have the opportunity to be successful. Our students model the BEAR CODE daily:

Welcome to Royal Oaks!
