President's Message - May 2010

Here Comes Summer!

Summer is fast approaching, and we have only a handful of days left until our Bears officially close the 2009-10 school year. These next two weeks are packed with lots of learning, celebration, wrapping up and excitement, and there are tons of opportunities, great and small, to enjoy this special time of year with your student(s).

As always, I would like to begin by thanking a few individuals who have worked hard this past month to bring family, fun and celebration to Royal Oaks. Thank you to Jessica Figallo for organizing a spectacular Moms & Muffins event! Our tables were overflowing with students and their special ladies, as they enjoyed yummy muffins and loving company. Thank you to Casey Camarillo for coordinating Teacher Appreciation Week, and providing our students with creative and heartfelt ways to honor our teachers and staff. Thanks also go to Mike Rook, Dave Raymond and Stacy Hyde for their hard work in planning Water Play Day. Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of the parents, friends and family who come out to help when and where they can, often without being asked. You truly define the spirit of involvement and loving support that epitomizes Royal Oaks!

Open House and the Royal Oaks* All School Performance is on Thursday, May 20th. Be sure to come out to celebrate your student*s musical event and all of their hard work in the classroom. PTA will have pizza for sale, and Student Council will also be selling cookies (yum!) and water.

Our year wraps up with my all-time favorite event*Water Play Day!!! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, June 1st from 8 am * 12:30 pm, and help make this amazing day happen. Lots of volunteers are needed to help run the many outrageous water games our Bears will enjoy that day. Water Play Day is a special and particularly rewarding day in the sun, where you will have the opportunity to play with many of the classes, and really experience the friends, teachers and peers who shape so much of your child*s life. This is one event you will not want to miss. Dads, you will LOVE this! Look for more information to follow, and please contact Mike Rook, Dave Raymond or Stacy Hyde with any questions.

I would like to conclude with my most sincere thanks to all of the Royal Oaks families, students, teachers and staff for this magnificent year and all of the support and help you have given to PTA and myself. It has been a tremendous honor to serve as PTA president for the past two years, and I have truly enjoyed the time I have spent with all of you. I wish everyone the best summer, and hope you treasure these special and fleeting times.
